一部悲涼的電影，即便是無比恢弘的戰爭場面也只能讓人感到絲絲涼意。SittingBull的經歷總讓人不經意間想起末代皇帝溥儀，只是這個昔日的酋長還算得上是一個英雄，他在最後關頭的掙扎終究還是展現出CrazyHorse身上Sioux的血性。同化是人類發展的趨勢之一，而這種趨勢的結果卻往往是鬥爭與停滯。

劇情很細膩，不刻意以大場面、大感情煽動情緒，容易使人認為這是一部客觀的史詩電影。不過，藝術化的歷史敘述總是傾向於落後文明或者說弱者。先進文明或者說強者的形象刻畫總是有點單一。

典型的HBO電視電影，凝重憂傷。
