故事發生在1965年夏天的愛荷華州麥迪遜郡。一個寂寞的義大利裔家庭主婦芬琪卡（Francesca，梅莉·史翠普飾）在丈夫與孩子們外出時，遇到一個來當地拍攝廊橋的攝影師若柏（Robert，克林·伊斯威特飾），並且他們迅速墜入愛河。在他們相處的四天，成爲芬琪卡生命的轉折點，她在晚年把這段經歷寫出來，並要求孩子在她死後把骨灰灑在廊橋旁。

一個很浪漫的故事，如果你只能從這部電影裡看到“出軌”和“婚外戀”，這部電影算是白看了。

又重看了一遍。《廊橋遺夢》這個譯名，還是太過抒情太過明白了些，原名《麥迪遜橋》，一個普通的橋名，無情無感之物，襯托有情有感之人，反而更動人。
